If you love Downtown Lakeland and want to volunteer, we have lots of opportunities! Check out the list below and let us know if you are interested in any of these odd jobs that keep our Downtown running!

Poster Distribution

Do you want to stroll around Downtown Lakeland with a purpose?  We need a volunteer who'd like to be in charge of poster distribution for our events.  First Fridays are monthly and we put the posters out about 2 weeks in advance.  All it takes is about an hour (unless you get to talking with the merchants as you go). This is a great way to get a little exercise, get to know your Downtown merchants and REALLY help us OUT!  We provide you with tape, posters, a carrying bag and a distribution map.  The only thing missing is YOU!

First Friday Tent Sitter/Stander

Do you want to be part of the action at First Fridays?   We need a volunteer who is willing to help us answer questions, hand out coupons and generally be a know-it- all about Downtown Lakeland.  PRE-REQUISITE...you gotta love Downtown Lakeland!  We'll make sure you are knowledgable, you just put on a smile and get ready to greet-greet-greet! The best part is meeting all the great folks from around Lakeland and beyond who come to First Fridays.  It fills you with a great sense of community!  Cool way to spend a Friday night, eh?

Newsletter Deliveries

Be the bearer of GOOD NEWS!  Help us get the quarterly Downtown Dish newsletter distributed in Downtown and beyond.  5,000 copies are mailed, but the other 5,000 get handed out!  Everyone loves the Dish, so you will be welcomed everywhere you go with these babies. This will require a vehicle to lug them around, but distribution does not have to be done all in the same day. PLUS, we give you a distribution list so you know what to do and where to go! We only need you for this job 4 times a year. Great! That leaves you with time to do other volunteer jobs!! (Just kidding).

Event Planning

Are your parties such a hit with friends and family you've oftened wondered if you should get paid for event planning?  Well here is your chance! (minus the paid part...hey this is the volunteer page, remember?) 

But seriously, if you've ever attended an event Downtown and talked about the woulda, coulda, shouldas all the way home...then you have what it takes to help us plan events!  We are ALWAYS looking for great ideas (but more importantly implementers of great ideas) so breakout those thinking caps and get your ideas HAPPENING!  We have monthly Marketing/Events meetings - 2nd Tuesday of the month, 8am - but if that time does not work for you and you'd still like to help, give us a call. We'll work it out!

Surveyor

If anyone has ever hinted that you think you know everything, you may be just the right person for this!

If you like being in the "know" and want to make sure we are on top of our game, we need someone who checks blogs, calendars, etc to keep current.  We want to be sure our website has lots of up-to-date info about Downtown, but it takes a lot of effort to keep up with everything. This you can do from home by surfing the web and making phone calls.

Oh wise one, will you help us?

Goodie Bag Stuffers

This you can do in front of the T.V. if you want!

Downtown plans to heat up our goodie bag program.  We need thousands of bags stuffed with Downtown info, coupons, etc to hand out at Downtown Events, hotels, etc.  Once we have all of the "stuff" we'll need helpers to get it all in the bags!  We plan to have a few stuffing "parties" hosted by someone Downtown, but if you want to take some home, that is a great way to help too! 

Goodie Bag Distribution

OK, so stuffing's not your "Bag", but what about handing them out? Tigers games, Music on the Promenade, Pics on the Promenade, and other great Downtown Events are filled with folks who already know where Downtown Lakeland is, so now let's get them in the businesses too! You can volunteer for one or many, but we need friendly folks like you to "let it out of the bag" how great Downtown Lakeland is!

Volunteer Coordinator

Keeping up with all these folks above is a job in and of itself! We need someone to keep track of them, thanks them propoerly and field questions suggestions, etc.  WE LOVE our volunteers, and we need to show it!  Be our "GO-TO"--THANK YOU person!
